Tengo Dudas, Ayuda!!! / I Have Some Doubts, Help!!!

Ayuda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted that some of you cooking experts help me. I have several doubts that I need to clarify. Almost always and depending on how tasty is the food I have to keep some leftovers in the refrigerator. But it would be ideal to take that food and keep it in the freezer so that way nobody would be bored of eating the same thing the next day, instead we could eat it days later.

Now my doubts are:

1. If I keep the food in the freezer do I have to add anything to it when I remove it from there or just reheat it.
2. How much time can it stay frozen?
3. It is good to do this or not.
4. What type of foods do you freeze?

For me what is important is to have healthy food and thus not to consume so much food outside. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Annie! You can totally do this! I freeze lots of stuff... chili, lasagna, mac/cheese, chicken pot pie... it's not hard to reheat it and it still tastes good. You can keep it frozen for a while... 6-8 weeks.

To reheat, I put it in the fridge for 12 - 24 hours (i don't have a microwave) and then heat up the portion I want to eat on the stove top.

Pasta doesn't freeze as well, but you can keep it in the fridge and then reheat it on the stove top... just add some water or olive oil to give it some moisture.

Hope that helps!

I'm not much of a cook, but I do know that soups and casseroles freeze especially well and are easy to make extra servings of when you are cooking them. Soups are easily frozen in tupperware or plastic containers (or even ziploc freezer bags), and for casseroles, those foil pans are great. Good luck!

Hi Annie! I do this all the time! Especially when I know life is going to get busy. I usually pick a few favorite meals (for us it's pasta and anything Mexican) and I'll cook a double batch. That way, I can freeze one batch, usually for 1-2 months, and still have something for the night.

Have you tried vacuum pack bags? they allow you to store food a lot longer??

I do this all the time. Stews and Casseroles are great. Sometimes I have to add a little water but most times I just take it out and heat it up.
